Detailed programme content
Day 1 — Surface Methods: VT, PT & MT
- NDT's role in fabrication, acceptance and in-service inspection — and its limits
- Visual testing: tools, access, lighting and the most under-rated method in practice
- Liquid penetrant testing: process control, dwell times and false indication traps
- Magnetic particle testing: magnetisation methods, field strength and demagnetisation
- Hands-on: surface indication evaluation on prepared sample welds
Day 2 — Volumetric Methods: RT & UT
- Radiographic testing: exposure geometry, IQI selection and image quality
- Radiograph interpretation workshop — porosity, slag, lack of fusion, cracks
- Ultrasonic testing: beam behaviour, calibration blocks and scan patterns
- UT signal interpretation and common sizing errors
- Radiation safety and digital radiography trends in Malaysian practice
Day 3 — Acceptance, Reporting & Certification Routes
- Acceptance criteria across ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, AWS D1.1 and API standards
- Writing and reviewing NDT procedures, technique sheets and reports
- SNT-TC-1A and ISO 9712 certification routes: hours, experience and exams
- Specifying an NDT scope for a turnaround or fabrication package
- Workshop: audit a real NDT report pack and defend your findings
Practical Work
Practical exercises and case studies
Sessions are built around calculations, data interpretation and technical decisions. Case material is generic or anonymised — no client-confidential project data is used.
Surface indication evaluation on prepared weld samples using PT and MT kits
Radiograph interpretation exercise against ASME and AWS acceptance criteria
UT calibration and scanning practice on reference blocks with known reflectors
Audit exercise: review a full NDT report pack and identify technique and coverage gaps

Azman has qualified hundreds of welding procedures and rejected plenty of them. His sessions run on real radiographs, real PQR packages and real client NCRs, so participants leave able to defend a weld package in front of a client inspector.
